Two Types of Pessimism

I've never liked to hear someone say, "I'm a pessimist. I believe blah blah blah" They always seem to say it as if they think they are an intellectual. You can tell they think they're on another level by watching their face as they silently await your reaction. They think they're better than the happy do-gooders.
There are jokes on the internet explaining how you can benefit from pessimism. They say it would keep you from being disappointed if something good doesn't go as planned. But, things in life aren’t always going to go as planned, so you’re going to have to face things sooner or later and stop running.

I kept thinking and finally realized there are two types of pessimism. I'll call them Type1 and Type2 .
Type1 pessimism deals with the future and your expectations. Type1 people have a negative outlook on everything that’s going to happen because they are afraid to fail. They are afraid things will not work or go as planned. And things might not work, especially if you don't think they will. If you sit there and say, "I'm going to fail. I'm going to fail. I'm going to FAIL," you probably will. You've heard it a thousand times and it's true. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.
By the way, don't become attached to your car, family or friends, because you are probably going to lose them in three... two... one
Now, if you always avoid disappointment, how do you expect to enjoy success? I (like most) have entered numerous contests and have failed. I was disappointed sometimes, but always tried to hold a positive outlook. When I won, it meant a whole lot to me because I had experienced loss so many times.
The same goes with the ups and downs of life. Have you ever been through a bad depression? Once you recover, you realize how incredible life truly is and you can't imagine ever wanting life to end. People who have experienced hard times are able to really experience what they have going for them. Don't avoid your emotions. Avoid defeat, not the feeling it causes. This isn't to say you should always get your hopes up. It's important you understand the difference.
Type2 refers to current-time pessimism. People who are pessimistic in this way bring everyone else down. They'll come up to you and say one of the following. "I hate this party. That house is ugly. I'm tired. I'm having a heart attack."

Example

By the way, I have a history of bad hearts from both sides of my family.
It's ok to feel like this, but when you CONSTANTLY complain about everything insignificant thing, people will go out of their way to avoid you.
Do you know somebody who is like this? I do. Almost nobody likes him. He are always griping about something. He consistently fails to make the best out of a situation.

Pessimistic people may think others think they're "cool" and not cheery about anything, but if they fail to be witty or can't make a valid point with their negativity, people simply walk away.

I have a friend who has stopped talking to a good friend of his because he's always negative. "What's the point?" he says. He makes a very good point.

You have Type1 and Type2. They either do it because they are afraid, or they want to be liked.
Pessimism is a crutch.
